As you know, the day after Thanksgiving is Black Friday. And this year more than ever, we need to get out there and prop up the economy. If you have the means to do so, here's a list of must-hit shops for everyone on your list (including yourself). Know of something that's missing? E-mail your Black Friday tip to matt@417mag.com and we'll see if we can add it to the list. Be sure to be specific!
• Pastiche (400 E. Walnut St.), the downtown decor shop, is having a Black Friday sale. Everything in the store is 10 percent off, and they'll be serving little Baileys drinks (mmmm).
• Also downtown, Indie Boutique (320 E. Walnut St.) is offering discounts all day, with double savings before noon.
• Vino100 (2145 E. Republic Rd.) opens the weekend with a Mimosas and Breakfast Black Friday kickoff from 9 to 11 a.m. at their shop on E. Republic Rd. You can sip some tasty beverages and shop for fine wine and gifts. Or head back to Vino from 6 to 9 p.m. for a more family-oriented "relaxing" wine tasting.
• Do yourself a pleasurable favor and make Adam & Eve (1332 E. Republic Rd.), the lingerie and naughty-stuff boutique, a stop. Every single item in the store is on sale, and ownership will be on-site to make hourly cuts, specials and deals on all the erotic, sexy stuff you'll need to make sure Santa has absolutely no reason to stop at your house this year ('cause you'll be bad, see?). Adam & Eve's sale lasts through the weekend.
• Pick up the November issue of 417 Magazine, find the Just For Him (1334 E. Battlefield Rd.) ad on p. 27 and get $5 off your next purchase through December 3 (might be able to knock dad's gift out early).
• James Décor (1324 E. Republic Rd., Springfield) a sweet interior design store, is having a Maitland-Smith event, with 20 percent off through November 30.
• If you're in the market for practical, Brashears, a furniture shop in Branson and Barryville, Arkansas, is offering reduced prices on furniture, bedding, rugs, mattresses, lamps, art and other stuff, with no interest or payments due until May. There will also be a drawing for a free mattress.
• Executive Menswear (1626 E. Republic Rd.) has a huge sale in the offing all weekend. All suits are 30-50 percent off, leather coats are 50 percent off, cashmere sportcoats are 50 percent off, sweaters and mocks are 50 percent off, and all other sport coats are 30-50 percent off. Cashmere gloves, hats and scarves are 50 percent off. Plus tons of other discounts.
• Dynamic Earth is having a big sale.
• For Mothers-to-Be, 9 Months to Grow (2305 S. Campbell Ave.) is having a sale that includes 50 percent off regular-priced slacks, 40 percent off tops, 30 percent off jeans and 10 to 20 percent off lots of other things, including skincare products and PJs. They're open 10-5 on Friday and 10-4 on Saturday.
• Children's Orchard (1278 E. Republic Rd.), a lil' tykes clothing shop, will be giving 50 percent of your purchase of $25 or more back to you in the form of a gift card. Sweet!
• At Just For Him (1334 E. Battlefield Rd.), a three-pack sampler of Cohiba cigars (with Andre Garcia Leather Case) are half price on Black Fridy only... that's more than $60 in savings.
• Hungry? Emack and Bolio's (2925 E. Battlefield Rd.) is offering free scoops of ice cream to anyone who purchases a sandwich, soup, salad or combo, and their coffee, espresso, hot chocolate and hot chai tea are all buy one-get one free.
• Plus, of course, all the deals to be found at Battlefield Mall, Branson Landing, and other retailers. If you've got the money to spend, get out there and make it a happy Black Friday for everyone (including yourself)!
